Opposition forces' disagreement over election-time government is suicidal: Manna
We have to form a government after the resignation of the present dictatorial government, which will streamline all levels of administration and law enforcement, said Mr. Mahmudur Rahman Manna, President of Citizens Unity.
He further added that it would be very suicidal for the opposition to have a disagreement with the government during the election period, which would be especially helpful in keeping the dictatorial government in power.
He made the remarks at a meeting of the Central Committee of Citizens' Unity held here on Monday (April 4). It would be very suicidal to create a rift between the powers that be, which would only be particularly helpful in keeping an authoritarian government in power.
Manna further said that a government should be formed which would prevent corruption, enable the constitutional institutions of the state to function independently and impartially. It will restore the constitutional, political and economic rights of the people. Only then will it be possible to ensure a free, fair, and impartial election. Manna demanded a united movement of all the opposition forces to remove the present 'illegitimate' ruling government and said that the movement would take all decisions on the structure of the next government through mutual talks to ensure the fall of dictatorship through that movement.
